Cross Country Shines at KW Hosted Meet at Lewisville Park
Perfect weather, personal records, and season best times brought smiles and high fives to the King’s Way Cross Country team on October 10 at Lewisville Park in Battle Ground.
King’s Way hosted high school teams from Seton, LaCenter, and Castle Rock on a challenging 5K (3.1 mile) course, and middle school teams from LaCenter, Castle Rock, and Hockinson on the 1.5 mile middle school course.
King’s Way middle school pulled off an amazing feat, with all team members turning in personal record times on the course. The boys’ team won first place in the team competition, with the first five boys’ finishers taking overall 4th (Kadyn Butcher 8:28), 5th (Colin Trang 9:10), 6th (Aidan Suchecki 9:17), 7th (Kemp Fisher 9:18), and 10th (Liam Murphy 9:24) places out 33 athletes racing. Hanna Bailey finished 4th among 24 girls in the girls’ race, finishing in a personal best time of 9:31.
Savanna Woody once again set a new personal record by 5 seconds, finishing the 3.1 mile course in 21:44. Foxx Walz set a season best time of 19:12, while Nathan Rose finished 6th overall with a time of 18:36. Rounding out the competitors for King’s Way were Justin Pilgrim (19:53), Jackson Moses (21:07) and Sam Faville (25:42).
The next competition for both high school and middle school cross country is the League Championship meet, taking place at Vancouver Lake Park on Wednesday October 17.
