Middle School Cross Country Wins Individual Girls Title, Team Boys Title at League Championships at Vancouver Lake Park
Wednesday October 17th proved to be another beautiful and winning day for King’s Way Cross Country.
Hanna Bailey won the individual girls’ middle school title, covering the 2.5K course at Vancouver Lake in a personal record time of 9:34, showing determination and strength to the finish by edging out the second place finisher by less than a second.
The King’s Way boys’ middle school team, led by Kadyn Butcher who finished 2nd overall with a time of 9:04, won a hard fought battle for the League Championship, finishing as a team 2 points ahead of Henkle Middle School. Top scoring finishers for King’s Way were Kadyn Butcher, Colin Trang (9:28), Kemp Fisher (9:55), Aidan Suchecki (10:03), and Liam Murphy (10:14).
Impressive performances were seen as well in the high school 5K races. Nathan Rose finished 4th overall in 17:39, Foxx Walz ran a strong race in season record time of 18:53, and Justin Pilgrim set a new personal record of 19:47. Savanna Woody finished 14th overall in the high school girls’ 5K race, covering the course in 22:29.
High school cross country now looks ahead to the District Championship Meet on Thursday October 25th at Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland.
