King’s Way Christian is excited to announce the head coaches for the first ever girls fast pitch softball program! Welcome Traci Nelson and Shawna Danberg to the coaching family at KW!
Traci Nelson was born and raised here in Vancouver and played fast pitch for Fort Vancouver High School. She has played for travel teams and at the college level for Pacific University. She was then recruited to Portland State University where she finished her softball collegiate career as a pitcher. After several years away from the sport she so loves, she began coaching a youth travel team, NW Raptors, and continued until the end of the 2018 season.
Traci is married to Troy and has one daughter, Sofia, who is a freshman here at King’s Way.
Shawna Danberg was ten years old when she started playing softball and the love of the sport is still with her today!
Shawna played for both VGSA teams and at Mt. View High School where she pitched and played 3rd base. Her passion is pitching, but she enjoyed all the positions. She then began her college softball career at Clackamas Community College where she pitched and was involved with two northwest championships. What she loves most is coaching and mentoring people to grow in their skills and abilities, whether that is playing softball, their walk with Jesus or becoming all they were created to be!
Shawna is married to JD and has two boys, Riley and Preston that graduated from King’s Way.
Traci and Shawna will provide an enjoyment of the game with patient instruction on skills and competition. The two of them will complement each other by integrating Christ in sports, growth in character and developing the skills of competitive softball.
We are happy to have both of them as our foundational coaches for our new softball program here at KW.
