KW Athletics is SUPER excited to introduce to you our first ever Trainer (supplied by Providence Medical) Coach Greg Wakefield. Coach Wakefield will be on campus every Thursday from 3:15-5:45 to do pain management, pre/post practice treatment, bio-mechanic assessments (what joints, muscle groups, ligaments are in need of attention), rehab, etc…. We’re extremely excited about the direction of our relationship with Providence Medical as it relates to our Performance Center that will open soon. This is just the start of something extremely powerful for our athletes!
GREG WAKEFIELD’S BIO
I was born and raised in a small ski resort in central Idaho called Sun Valley. After high school, I moved to Oregon where I played college baseball for 2 ½ years prior to getting injured. At that point I chose to pursue my degree in Athletic Training from Oregon State University. When I finished at OSU I went on to get my Master’s Degree at the University of South Carolina. While in South Carolina I worked in the high school setting and with the USC Track & Field team where I had the privilege to work with multiple Olympians. I then moved back to Oregon in 2017 and began working with the Portland Timbers. I worked as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Timbers reserve team, T2, until to August 2019. I am now an athletic trainer with Providence Health & Services here in the Vancouver/Camas area working to build a Sports Medicine program.
